How to Choose the Right Water Filter for a Home in Cyprus

There is no single best filter for every home. The right system depends on whether you want better drinking water, protection from limescale, or both.

Start with the problem, not the product

Carbon filters, reverse osmosis and water softeners are designed for different jobs. Choosing by technology alone can lead to a system that works correctly but does not solve the household’s main issue.

Three common system types

Carbon and inline filters are useful for taste and chlorine. Reverse osmosis is designed for drinking-water purification. Water softeners reduce hardness for the whole property.

  • Carbon / inline: taste and chlorine
  • RO: drinking-water purification
  • Softener: whole-house hardness control

Test before choosing

Water conditions vary between properties. Measuring hardness, dissolved solids and the performance of any existing equipment gives a much better basis for selection than guessing from a product list.

Next step

If you are choosing a system or checking an existing installation, start with the actual water conditions in the property rather than guessing from product specifications alone.
